The Mother Haiti Must Work Hard

When the screams of women who gave birth began to subside, people can hear the cries of babies newly weak witness life in the general hospital in the Haitian capital of the chaotic post-earthquake.

The women were lying on the mattress that lies on a bed of stone krikil stuffy in the tent erected in the hospital yard. Some women lose their limbs, others suffered a broken hip.

In Haiti, kegembiran become a parent must wait, sometimes forever.

"The woman gave birth after removed from the rubble, their arms or legs amputated, most of the injuries," said Jean Herby LaFrance, Haiti doctor who was educated in Cuba and flew back to his home country with a group of Cuban medical staff earlier last week, told AFP.

Before the January 12 earthquake, which is estimated to have killed 150,000 people, the poor countries in the Caribbean has the highest maternal mortality rate in the western hemisphere - 670 deaths per 100,000 births.

As many as 15 percent of births involve bleeding or other complications that require surgery, said the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), with an estimated 63,000 pregnant women in the population who become victims in Haiti.

The doctors, nurses, and mothers face a long task. Parents carrying infants in their arms, some caring for their babies. Most face without expression, they are caught between the pain and joy of facing destruction because it is still alive. The others smiled in the face of all that.

So far has helped LaFrance 20 born, including five via a C-section and two pre-premature birth because the mother under stress caused by the earthquake.

"We have to face the eight women who miscarry, with a pregnancy of about three or four months," said the 33-year-old - who has two children at his home in Santiago de Cuba.

"We're very short of equipment, especially for a C-section," LaFrance said. "Things to do very critical operations, we do not have the equipment, but we still have to perform the operation. It's very difficult."

It claims no obstetrician when he arrived. Today, with the volunteers from around the world in Haiti, he said there were enough doctors, but almost all other requirements are minimal.

"We do not have anything to deal with all women, no compressor, sometimes there's no pain medication and the operating table is incomplete. We need the equipment," he said.

Some women can not get to the hospital and give birth without the help of many temporary camps that have mushroomed in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas. Circumstances outside Haiti's capital could be much worse.

"A total of 7000 women giving birth is expected in various regions of the earthquake victims during the next month, and as many as 1,000 women expected to miscarry again," said the UNFPA Jemilah Mahmood told AFP.

UNFPA is trying to get the "basic reproductive health equipment" which contains a plastic sheet, sterile knife to cut the cord and string to tie it clean, plus blankets for newborns, for pregnant women in Haiti.

"Midwives and health centers, when they see someone who obviously pregnant and give birth, they gave the equipment to the mothers so that they can give birth in the middle of the road. They were given a clean delivery equipment," said Jemilah.

More sophisticated equipment will be distributed to hospitals and health centers that had escaped from the earthquake. Some have an emergency C-section equipment, others have the equipment from storage to the glove.

Dignity lost

However, although equipment may be one step towards the provision of simple health conditions for women when they give birth, it was not to keep others who are also taken from the girls and women of Haiti caused by the earthquake: dignity.

Joane Kerez (20) gave birth to her first child a week more than a day after an earthquake shook the central square in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where thousands of people who lost their homes to establish a shelter, so a description of a CARE worker in a network of non-governmental organizations such .

Kerez only have a tarpaulin to cover herself, her mother - who helped her give birth - and a group of people watch and stare as she gave birth.

"Actually I prefer to be somewhere else, in a place that is cleaner without all the people staring at my body," said Kerez.

"One of the conditions that almost never discussed is the dignity," said Jemilah, who explained that the UNFPA has started distributing "the dignity of equipment" to the women of Haiti.

Equipment contains a clean towel, medical materials and underwear.

"Women and girls were still menstruating despite living in the open in a terrible condition, and if your clothes smudged, it can mean you can not go to the distribution of food or water. And that can really hinder the survival and recovery, "Jemilah said.

"Try to position yourself in the same situation - go to the supermarket and your clothes smeared with menstrual blood," said Jemilah told reporters via a remote briefing in the United States. (AntaraNews)

Oxygen

A normal human would need oxygen? About 375 liters per day. Naturally, we get oxygen to breathe through the lungs. Oxygen to the lungs and then into the alveoli and be bound by the hemoglobin in the blood. Then distributed to the entire body to assist the combustion process glucose into energy.

Once we breathe, the lungs can hold about 500 ml of air into the body. In tired condition, such as after exercise, the need will increase 5-10 fold. When you exercise, your body will feel tired because of reduced oxygen intake.

At room temperature, the water naturally contains oxygen was as much as 10 ppm or 10 milligrams per liter. At lower temperatures (eg in a refrigerator), oxygen levels can be increased up to 15 ppm.

Oxygen is now not only inhaled, but can also be added through the digestive tract. Almost the same as drinking water in other containers, oxygen water comes from ground or spring that has been through the process of distillation, and then at the end of the process is added to the oxygen. Through technology keeper oxygen, water contains oxygen was relatively small, can now reach 10-fold higher levels of oxygen. Water oxygen usually contain 80 ppm of oxygen per bottle. However, oxygen is dissolved in the water? Is highly volatile and easily separated again, especially if the water is in the cases above room temperature (25-30oC), exposed to heat, or exposed to direct sunlight.

Actual benefits of oxygen water has so far not proven scientifically or clinically.? Please note, if the intake of oxygen in the body in the normal levels, it will support our health. However, if the level is too high, it would be dangerous because it is oxygen free radicals. Free radicals is one of the trigger cancer.

Sign - a sign of lack of oxygen

* Agency tired, tired and listless
*. Rapid immune decline so susceptible to infection.
* Muscle aching - sore and rheumatic pain - shooting pain.
* High blood pressure / low.
* Indigestion.

Benefits of oxygen to the body

* More oxygen in the body will be immune miningkatkan so not susceptible to disease.
* More oxygen in the muscles will improve performance, so it looks more fresh and always energetic.
* More oxygen in the brain makes us think clearer, sharper and more wapada.
* More oxygen in the skin will make the skin fresher, more healthy and youthful.

How healthy mechanism occurs
The human body consists of the organ - an organ consisting of cells. If our cells healthy enough oxygen then we would be healthy organs that eventually our bodies will be healthy. If our cells of oxygen deficiency (hypoxia) will hurt the cells that will cause the organ too ill finally make the body sick.

So that every disease is basically a result of damage Sel, Take care of each cell consumes you with 8 drops of CELLFOOD ® every day to ensure your health,
so that severe cases of the disease such as cancer, tumors, diabetes, stroke, heart, etc. very easily avoided.

causes children to be beggars

These last few years, in Indonesia, part of the public's attention to the lives of children increased. This is driven by a sense of humanity and the condition of children who grew poorly. Today, the figure of children in Indonesia appeared in the growing life was exciting. It appeared from the increasingly growing number of street children.

The condition of children who only observed slumped more than just physical appearance. Yet behind the physical appearance that there is a worrying condition, sometimes even more powerful. This condition is caused by the growing complexity of the crisis in Indonesia: economic crisis, legal, moral, and various other crises.

Convention on the rights of children who coined by the United Nations (Convention on the Rights of the Child), as has been ratified by Presidential Decree number 36 in 1990, declared, that as they are not physically and mentally mature children, they need attention and protectio.

Associated with street children, they generally come from families who work hard and the weak economy. Street children grow and develop with the street life and the background familiar with poverty, persecution, and loss of affection, so that the burden the soul and make him behave negatively.

They were there who lived in the local town, in another town nearby, or in other provinces. There are street children whose mothers lived in different cities with his father's residence because of job, marriage, or divorce. There are street children who still live with the family, there are separate living but still often return to the family, there had never lived with his family or even a child who does not know his family.

According to M. Ishaq (2000), there are three Ketegori activities of street children, namely: (1) seek satisfaction; (2) to earn a living; and (3) immoral actions.

Street children's activities closely related to where they hung the daily, which is in the plaza, cinemas, highways, crossroads, railway stations, terminals, markets, shops, and malls.

The situation of street children invite rampant. Densely populated city and many families in trouble making child malnutrition, lack of attention, lack of education, compassion and warmth of the soul, and lose the right to play, fun, social, and live independently, or even result in children's mental persecuted, physical, and sexual abuse by family, friends, others more mature.

Among street children, most often there is a move between cities. They grow and develop with the street life and the background familiar with poverty, persecution, and loss of affection, so that the burden the soul and make him behave negatively.

A child who crashes the family, then became street children caused by many things. Child maltreatment is a major cause of children become street children. Abuse include their physical and mental. Other than that, in general, street children come from families who work hard and the weak economy.

An empowered society are those who gain understanding and be able to supervise social forces, economic, political and so the status and dignity increases.

Furthermore, Kindervatter (1979: 13) defines empowerment or Empowering as a "people Gaining an understanding of and control over social, economic, and / or political forces in order to improve their standing in society".

Street children are children who Uncategorized helpless. They are victims of various deviations from rogue elements irresponsible. For that, they need to be empowered by democratization, the generation of populist economics, justice and the rule of law, political participation, and special education schools.

Street children, in essence, is "the children", together with the other kids who are not street children. They need education. Fulfillment of education must be the aspect of physical and mental development of their. Because children are not small adults. Child has his own world and different from adults. We do not give him enough to eat and drink, or just protect her in a house, because children need love. Compassion is a fundamentalist education. Without love, the ideal of education can not be executed. Education without love becomes dry unattractive.

In educating children, mothers and fathers have to disagree. They must act as the friend of the child, bond with teacher, patiently as a bulwark of protection for children, a role model, diligent told, choosing toys, exercise discipline, teaching work, and his son stretched vices (for example: say dirty, fight, like fighting, violations intentionally, tantrums, stubborn, always refused, fearful, spoiled, naughty).

Family ideal and conducive to the growth of developing children, was also coveted by street children. The ideal family for the child's growth can be described as follows:

Education, in principle, should keep kids in school and encourage them to continue to higher levels. In addition, also facilitates the child who no longer attended the school special education programs equal to the school. The program such as: Pursue Pursue Package A and Package B which is equivalent to elementary education programs / junior and training services.

Especially for street children, according to Ishaq (2000), special education schools that match is to make the learning process conducted in a container "halfway house" and PKBM (Center for Community Learning Activities), namely: street children served in the halfway house, while vulnerable children into the street and adults served in the container PKBM.

PKBM halfway house and was combined with-and implement-group approach and CBE (Community Based Education, community-based education) and participatory learning strategies and collaborative (participative and collaborative learning strategy).

Established educational programs, among others, could be: Chase Enterprises; Pursue Package A (equivalent to SD); Pursue Package B (equivalent to junior secondary); tutoring; Diktagama (character education and religious dialogue); Latorma (sports training and playing) ; Sinata (sinauwisata); Lasentif (training of art and creativity); Play Group; Campaign CRC (Convention on the Rights of the child); FBR (sharing forum); and training Taruna Mandiri (M. Ishaq, 2000: 371).

Learning materials include: religion and nationality; calistung (reading-writing-arithmetic); live in a society; and creativity and entrepreneurship.

Learning achievement and success of the program is evaluated with a self-evaluation stage of the following: (1) setting learning objectives, (2) formulation of success criteria for learning; (3) monitoring and learning activities; and (4) determination of school performance and success of the program.

Evaluation results were disclosed at the end of each activity through oral or written reports. The results of the evaluation of incidental learning activities reported verbally or taped to the bulletin board located at the halfway house or PKBM, while the results of ongoing evaluation of learning activities reported through a book report cards. The success of the program expressed periodically: daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly.

Thus, efforts to empower street children should continue to be encouraged through a variety of implementation of education programs outside of school (eg: Pursue Package A, Package B Chase, Chase Enterprises, tutoring and test the equation, character and religious education, sports training and playing, sinauwisata , art and creativity training, campaigns, forums sharing, and training of cadets independent).

Operation of these programs should apply the participation / collaboration functionalities, which involve multiple parties in cross-sectoral, cross-disciplinary, and cross-region of maximum cooperation, both academics and practitioners.

Street children are still more likely to change his destiny by learning therefore needs to explore the source or support programs. In order for the street children to the program, the source of learning should be empathetic and able to convince them that the education program really supports their personal development. For that, the mastery of learning characteristics and needs of street children will be very helpful to learn to be a source of empathy for them.

Time eyeing Indochina, Indonesian ICT markets

Time Engineering Bhd, a government-linked company involved in information and communication technology (ICT), intends to move in aggressively to capture the Indochina and Indonesian markets.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Steven Lim Kee Seng, said the firm had identified Loas, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and Indonesia to market its products and services with emphasis on ICT security-based software, among others.

He said the flagship outfit of the UEM Group had progressed leaps and bounds, over the last eight months, since he took over the company.

" We are now in the midst of restructuring Time Engineering. We are also building our domestic market with the e-dagang flagship. We are also emphasising the e-learning segment. We have successfully implemented the e-learning project for 10,000 schools nationwide," he told Bernama in an interview recently.

He said while the company pursued its aim of making a mark in the local market, the last few years, the time was now ripe for it to set its sights abroad.

" The markets we have identified are just moving into ICT. These are untapped markets with huge opportunities. It is not only about selling our ICT products but also forming strategic alliances in the fields of transport, health and education.

" Although we want to move into these markets, we will also keep an eye-out for other markets. Everything is going electronic now but what is lacking is cyber-security and this is where we need to capitalise," he added.

Lim also said Time Engineering hoped to launch its cyber security products, involving financial institutions, to Indochina and Indonesia in the near future.

It intends to leverage on the expertise and experience of more than 50 ICT engineers under its fold who are all trained and certified in the field of cyber security.

To achieve this, the company signed several teaming agreements with world renowned firms like 3Com, Oracle and Sumitomo, which are all major ICT industry players.

"We also have a new product which provides wireless Internet service for a two kilometre radius and this product would be affordable. As a government-linked company, we aim to go forward. We are the first Malaysian ICT company to boldly venture into these markets.

" To attack the Asian region, we need to have close and cordial relations with the authorities and the business community in these countries," Lim added.

Time Engineering has already acquired a project in Vietnam, funded by the European Union, and it involves e-learning.

"We have the experience and expertise and there is no reason why we should not venture outside of Malaysia. This itself speaks volumes of our efforts to broaden our horizon. Action speaks louder than words.

"A month ago we were shortlisted for another big project also in Vietnam. This Project is to be funded by the World Bank. This shows that these countries have big potential in the ICT market," he said.

Lim said Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar were like Malaysia in the 1980s, when the market for ICT related products were booming.

He also pointed out that Time Engineering placed sole emphasis on profits but also wanted to share knowledge in the field of cyber security and e-learning with these nations which were now slowly, but surely, embracing ICT in the way they conduct business.

Asked on his advice to Malaysian ICT firms wanting to venture out of the domestic market, he said they would first need to identify a niche product to market.

"Go out and plant the seeds. You would be able to reap the fruits of your labour in a year or two," he said.

Between January and September last year Time Engineering reported a higher pre-tax profit of RM26.299 million (US$1=RM3.4) from RM26.205 million chalked up in the same period last year.

The company`s revenue, however, declined to RM94.369 million from RM120.592 million in the previous corresponding period. (AntaraNews)

Antibody fnds, wipes out prostate cancer

US researchers have found an antibody that hunts down prostate cancer cells in mice and can destroy the killer disease even in an advanced stage, a study showed Monday.

The antibody, called F77, was found to bond more readily with cancerous prostate tissues and cells than with benign tissue and cells, and to promote the death of cancerous tissue, said the study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (PNAS).

When injected in mice, F77 bonded with tissue where prostate cancer was the primary cancer in almost all cases (97 percent) and in tissue cores where the cancer had metastasized around 85 percent of the time.

It recognized even androgen-independent cancer cells, present when prostate cancer is incurable, the study by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania showed.
F77 "initiated direct cell death of prostate cancer cells... and effectively prevented tumor outgrowth," it said.

But it did not target normal tissue, or tumor tissues in other parts of the body including the colon, kidney, cervix, pancreas, lung, skin or bladder, the study showed.

The antibody "shows promising potential for diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, especially for androgen-independent metastatic prostate cancer," which often spreads to the bones and is difficult to treat, the researchers wrote in PNAS.

Currently, the five-year survival rate for metastatic prostate cancer is just 34 percent, according to the study.

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men, claiming half a million lives each year worldwide, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO)

Too many bad Sitting With Little Sport

Sitting all day may greatly increase the risk of diseases related to lifestyle, even if someone adds dose for moderate or vigorous exercise routine, said several scientists.

Health benefits of physical activity that accelerates the heart rate no longer debated; that, among other things, help prevent heart disease and blood vessels, diabetes, and obesity.

But scientific findings recently also showed that the condition of prolonged motionless while people sit may be independently associated with such conditions.

"When sitting should be defined as muscle activity and not a lack of exercise," concluded a team of Swedish researchers.

"We need to consider that we are dealing with two different behaviors and its impact," they report in the Journal of Sports Medicine, UK.

Led by Elin Ekblom-Bak of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, the scientists proposed "new paradigm of psychology did not move", and urged other researchers to rethink the definition of lifestyle sit constantly.

They pointed to a study recently of Australian adults who showed that every day an hour increase in the sitting while watching television increases metabolic syndrome rates among women by 26 percent - no matter the amount of moderate exercise diligently-until-done.

Daily physical exercise for 30 minutes reduce the risk of the same percentage, thus showing that a person who had spent most of her spare time sitting or lying on the couch, for example, can eliminate the benefits of using "treadmill" or cycling.

Metabolic syndrome is defined as the presence of three, or more, factors including high blood pressure, abdominal obesity, high cholesterol or insulin resistant conditions.

New research is needed to see if there is a causal relationship between the immobile and this condition and, if so, how do they work, the researchers said.

One candidate is "lipoprotein lipase" - an enzyme produced in fat cells (adipocytes) and tied at the capillary walls - or LPL.

This enzyme plays an important role in the break down of fat in the body into a useful form.

A recent study shows that LPL activity, in mice, in striking down through stretching activities - as low a level that enables one-tenth of a rat running.

LPL levels for such activities "not too different from the rats exposed at levels higher motion", the scientists said.

"This emphasizes the importance of local muscle contractions, and not a strong stretch," said the researchers reported the French news agency, AFP.

All studies showed that people not only need frequent exercise, but also to avoid sitting in one place for too long, they said.

Walk up the stairs and not use the elevator, rest for five minutes from the desk, and walk when possible to deliver a messenger and not a car is strongly recommended. (AntaraNews)

Scientists promote Doomsday Clock minute

A number of scientists advancing again one minute symbol of Resurrection hour due to the effects of nuclear weapons and climate change.

Hours symbolic shows how close humans to extinction itself is moving at six minutes before midnight than five minutes on Thursday (14 / 1).

The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, those who manage and put illustration on the front page at that, meant to appeal to world leaders to reduce their nuclear production and stabilization of cooperation in climate change.

Scientists of the 19th Nobel laureate said, the solution of a new era of cooperation is a change in pemeritahan merika States (U.S.) oriented towards various international issues, and is part of the U.S. President, Barack Obama. "

Nuclear physicist Pervez Hoodbhoy at the press conference held at the New York Academy of Sciences said in penelusurannya from the World Trade Center (www.wtc.com) no change in world opinion, which means that nuclear weapons "are no longer useful to the war and not effective as a protector.

Members of the South Pole Survey Institute (British Antarctic Survey / BAS) argued, "Global warming is more of a threat than nuclear war."

When the clock was made in 1947, and in the set at seven minutes to midnight, and only changed 18 times before the change on Thursday last week.

In 2007 BAS promote two-minute test in conjunction with the North Korean nuclear weapons, Iran's nuclear ambitions and the U.S. change emphasizes the use of nuclear weapons for military activities. (AntaraNews)

Created Immediately Artificial Pancreas

Artificial pancreas will be created by the scientists of diabetes with insulin pump manufacturer, Animas.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) on Wednesday (13 / 1) suggests local time, they choose the unit from Johnson & Johnson is to develop and try new technologies, namely the pump and control system for type-1 diabetes.

"This will be a research and development of the first stage towards the creation of artificial pancreas," he said. Henry Anhalt, director of medical affairs of Animas, as quoted by Maggie Fox of Reuters.

Animas will work with the foundation that creates a combination of recording devices of glucose, insulin pumps, and some software to wireless technology. The new system will facilitate the people with diabetes to check blood and inject insulin.

The goal is a tool that can check the blood at any time and inject insulin as needed, without the help of others. This means that this technology into the future to just one package, either insulin pump or glucose entry system only.

"Herein lies the magical power, when the tool is able to communicate with each other. Now the tool is already available but still separate, "said Alan Lewis, chief executive officer and president of the JDRF.

The trust has spent years working with centers of knowledge to build a perfect system and could be marketed.

"Animas is a body that provides the equipment. JDRF will be a partner that uses our knowledge and expertise, "said Lewis again.

Foundation was poured eight million dollars for the next three years for the project. The goal is to have the first generation technology of these sophisticated devices that can be evaluated during the next four years.

Type-1 diabetes is a disease "autoimune", ie actually the body's immune system destroying the pancreas cells that produce insulin. Body no longer able to dissolve and use the sugar. If not treated, it will damage the blood vessels and nerves, organs, and eventually died.

In fact, if untreated, the blood vessels and damaged organs remain, blindness, kidney failure, and even loss of limbs. In the United States (U.S.) estimated three million people, average children and adolescents, diabetes type-1.

"This could be a first aid for not only improve glucose control but also lift the entire burden," said Aaron Kowalsky from JDRF.

Is rudimentary software that regulates insulin pumps and blood sugar that is not too high or low. Animas and JDRF will work together to find the best formula for it and try it.

"No single algorithm was consistent with the symptoms of the patient," said Anhallt, a specialist child pancreas organs.

According to Lewis, DexCom Inc.. which creates glucose control equipment that will provide their products become part of the package.

"We believe that Animas is a field leader that will allow us to market a product," said Lewis. The target is to create technology that is trusted by physicians, patients, and parents.

"All parents who have to wake up every night to check her blood sugar levels will be more relieved that their children are no longer going up because his blood sugar levels are very low," review Kowalski, who also suffered from type-1 diabetes.

He added, "Here the quality of life are not exaggerated." (AntaraNews)

See and Treat Method to Prevent Cervical Cancer

See and treat method can be simple and inexpensive way of preventing cervical cancer (cervical) because only two dollars worth of United States (U.S.) or equivalent to Rp20.000.
