domestic technology still innovative

Head of the Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) Marzan Alexander agreed that the public perception of technology in the country say still innovative, especially after the polls sebuh strengthen it.

"From the survey we did, 20 percent of people think the technology is not applicable, not 18 percent of technology with the times, and 12 percent did not fit the needs of technology," Marzan said Alexander in a seminar at the Bandung Institute of Technology campus, Saturday.

Therefore, countries need to build a national innovation system to improve the national technological competitiveness with foreign technology.

"National innovation system can build the technology workforce model that will be one aspect of national economic growth," Marzan said.

According to him, the system will be able to increase the contribution of technology to the component of economic growth (GDP), because the better the innovation system, the higher the income of a country.

National innovation system, Marzan said, is a unit that affect the development of institutional and speed of innovation, diffusion, and the learning process, to enhance competitiveness, social cohesion, and applying knowledge-based economy.

"The process begins phase dengaan invention (discovery), through intermediary stages to establish a system of innovation," said Marzan.

The system also involves other systems such as the political system, namely the government as policy makers; education system, ie university as researchers and industrial systems, namely large companies as a market.

Marzan said that one barrier to make the system as an independent nation-builder is the low infrastructure.

"To the problem of infrastructure and industrial competitiveness, we are still under Vietnam and the Philippines," Marzan said. (AntaraNews)
